HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD&CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), received Ana Paula de Carvalho, Minister of Spatial planning and Housing of the Republic of Angola, who lead a senior delegation from the Ministry. Al Tayer briefed the Angolan delegation about DEWA’s achievements and expertise in the electricity sector.
Marwan Bin Haider, Executive Vice President of Innovation and the Future, Waleed Salman, EVP of Business Development and Excellence, Khawla Al Mehairi, EVP of Strategy and Government Communications, and Mohammed Abdulkarim Al Shamsi, Acting Executive Director of UAE Water Aid (Suqia), also attended the meeting.
At the beginning of the meeting, Al Tayer welcomed the Angolan Minister and the accompanying delegation, highlighting the achievements, initiatives and projects of DEWA, which support the vision of the wise leadership to prioritise the diversification of energy sources within a clean, healthy and safe environment, while balancing development with environmental conservation for generations to come.
Al Tayer presented DEWA’s major projects to support the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 to provide 75% of Dubai’s power from clean energy by 2050. To achieve these goals, DEWA has launched many green projects, programmes and initiatives, including the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the world’s largest solar park with a planned total capacity of 5,000 megawatts by 2030 with total investments reaching AED 50 billion.
The Angolan delegation expressed admiration for DEWA’s projects in clean and renewable energy and water, praising its efforts to achieve sustainable development in Dubai and reducing the carbon footprint of the Emirate to achieve a better future for generations to come.
