HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), received a high-profile delegation from the French Consulate General in Dubai, headed by HE Raja Rabia, Consul General of France in Dubai. The meeting was attended by Dr Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support and Human Resources at DEWA, and Khawla Al Mehairi, Executive Vice President of Strategy & Government Communications at DEWA.
Al Tayer welcomed the French Consul General in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, stressing DEWA’s eagerness to consolidate cooperation and joint work with all diplomatic and consular missions in the UAE.
Al Tayer reviewed the initiatives and projects DEWA implements to achieve the vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, as well as “The Fifty-Year Charter” and “The Eight Principles of Dubai” that His Highness launched to establish a unique and sustainable future economic model for the development of businesses, that are based upon the latest innovations and adopting creativity in all fields and sectors.
Al Tayer highlighted DEWA’s comprehensive strategy for the energy sector that has been translated into practical strategies, stressing that DEWA works to secure energy supplies by diversifying the energy mix to cover 75% of Dubai’s total clean energy production by 2050. To achieve this, DEWA has launched several green programmes and initiatives, including the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the largest single-site solar park in the world, based on the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model, with a production capacity of 5,000 megawatts (MW) by 2030 and a total investment of AED 50 billion.
The two parties stressed the importance of cooperation between DEWA and French energy organisations and companies, affirming their distinguished joint relations and the importance of taking it to greater horizons.
HE Raja Rabia commended DEWA’s efforts in helping establish Dubai as a hub for green economy and promoting its leadership in various fields of energy. The delegation expressed its interest in participating in DEWA’s projects and sharing best practices and expertise in clean energy to promote sustainable development in Dubai
